Impressionism/Post-Impressionism Lecture

There are some differences between impressionism and post-impressionism.

Impressionism:

Tells about the "light" and "color". Artists draw paintings with the color theory. The painting is drawn by learning directly from nature. The painters paint the subject over and over again in order to catch the exact color.

Post-Impressionism:

It uses impressionist techniques; they want to take the style to a whole new level. Artists use more emotion, patience, and expression their art. They would like to find the deeper meaning.

I prefer impressionist style painting, because I most like the simple art that uses the simple colors and simple light. This is the famous and popular style of art. Although this kind of style is non-realist and somebody don't like it since they can't understand the painting, this is my reason why I like that. In real life, sometimes we will feel more pressures and more problems. So we need space to get away from reality of life and release.

Saving Grace

In this painting, I saw two hands. One hand seems to have gotten in danger and another hand has been trying to save it.

I think the artist wants to tell us that God will save us when we get troubles. In the world, people also believe in each other. I understand that grace of God is not just a big cover up for our sins, it was bought at a price of his son Jesus Christ.

That's made me exactly, it's the hand of God stretched to lost sinners. Grace is the free key to set us free. Grace is the power of God.

What I see:

Many black people, houses, cars, and a cat are in the picture. A woman brings children; maybe they will go to school. Someone's car is broken and a man helps him/her. A seller moves his/her stall. A store is popular because many people are in there. In the second floor of a house, a woman holds a baby, it looks like a happy family. A cat is walking on the street.

My opinion:

I think this is a small and happy town. All people are friendly and they are happy to help each other. There is not any guilt that will happen. There is no fashion or technological things.
